Nancy J. Rubin, PsyD, is a professor at The University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences. She is a clinical psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine, the clinic director of the Betty Shirley Clinic and the director of psychology clinical service teaching and research. Rubin is a member of the Alabama Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. She served as president of the Alabama Psychological Association in 2001, as the Alabama representative to the American Psychological Association Council of Representatives from 2003 to 2007 and was on the American Psychological Association Task Force on the Assessment of Competencies in Professional Psychology from 2004 to 2006.
Rubin graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1990 with a bachelor's in communication disorders and Spanish and earned her PsyD degree at the University of Denver. She completed her internship at the University of West Virgina School of Medicine/Charleston Area Medical center in 1990.
Rubin has a general psychotherapy practice in the Betty Shirley Clinic and specializes in family systems therapy, health psychology/behavioral medicine and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. Her academic interests include medical psychology and psychology education and assessment of competencies.
