Hospitalist Fellowship

The University Hospitalist Fellowship is a year-long fellowship for family medicine physicians seeking experience practicing medicine within hospitals, caring for patients from the time they are admitted to the time they are discharged. The fellowship offers one-on-one supervision from a Capstone Hospitalist Service attending physician for The University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences, as well as the Hospitalist Fellowship director. The fellowship is housed at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, a tertiary-care facility with 583 beds and one that offers a broad array of specialty units and advanced services, including cancer, cardiology, robotic and minimally invasive surgery, critical care pulmonology, gastroenterology, nephrology and the region’s most advanced trauma center. The University Hospitalist Fellowship is one of only a few nationwide that includes a rural focus and the first such program in the country, founded in 2006.
