Sara Phillips, MD

Associate Professor


Dr. Sara Phillips is an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the College of Community Health Sciences. She also cares for pediatric patients at University Medical Center, which the College operates.

Phillips, who is from Boaz, Ala., received her bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Alabama and, as a CCHS Rural medical Scholar, earned a master’s degree in Rural Community Health. She received her medical degree from the Birmingham-based University of Alabama School of Medicine, completing her third and fourth years at CCHS, which also functions as the Tuscaloosa Regional Campus for the School of Medicine for the clinical training of medical students. Phillips completed her residency training in pediatrics at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

She is core faculty for the UA Tuscaloosa Family Medicine Residency Program, which the College operates, serving as the liaison for the CCHS Department of Pediatrics. She is also the Department Section Chair of Pediatrics at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

Her research interests focus on preventive medicine. Phillips is passionate about child passenger safety and pediatric dental health.
