VISITING MEDICAL STUDENTS

The University of Alabama Family Medicine Residency develops family medicine physicians committed to providing comprehensive, competent, and compassionate care for patients of all ages and who focus on the whole person and not just the illness. Students focused on family medicine as a career and interested in learning more about our program are encouraged to apply for a visiting elective.

The visiting student program ensures that students have exposure to residents and faculty in inpatient and/or outpatient settings and have the opportunity to participate in resident, student and College-wide learning sessions. The program is specifically designed for students interested in applying to our Family Medicine Residency and only students with that intent should apply for a visiting elective.

Applicants should submit the following documents:

  • CV
  • Personal Statement or Statement of Intent (500 words or less)
  • Board Score

Limited housing opportunities may be available upon request and with advanced notice. Electives in other departments may be available upon request pending confirmation of an initial family medicine elective.

If you have any questions regarding the Visiting Student program, contact Natalie Morrow.
