Residency Reunion Weekend 2020

As we mark the 45th anniversary of our University of Alabama Family Medicine Residency, we invite you to join us August 28 – 30, 2020, to celebrate our residency alumni and this home you helped build into one of the nation’s leading family medicine residencies.

Reconnect with your classmates, faculty and mentors who were there when your medical career began. Learn how the residency has grown and changed since you graduated, and about the future of family medicine.

Continuing education will be provided for health care professionals.

Registration opens Saturday, April 25, 2020, at 12:00 pm CST.

Accommodations

Hotel Giveaway

The first 10 alumni to register for the Reunion Weekend will receive complimentary accommodations at Hotel Indigo! The value of the rooms are subject to tax. Room incidentals will be the responsibility of each individual.

We have additional rooms blocked at Hotel Indigo and at Embassy Suites. Please note reservations need to be made by Friday, August 7, 2020, to receive the discount room block rate.


Awards

We are having the inaugural Distinguished Alumni and Service Awards Ceremony as part of the Reunion Weekend to honor our outstanding alumni, faculty and staff for their contributions to the UA Family Medicine Residency.

Friday, August 28

Check-in — 3:00-5:00pm

Hotel Indigo and Embassy Suites Check-in and pick-up your welcome bag. We will have an itinerary, name badge and goodies for you.

Shuttle to Dinner — 6:15pm

Departing from Hotel Indigo and Embassy Suites.

Welcome Dinner — 6:30-8:30pm

The Pavilion, Cypress Inn Kick off the Reunion Weekend by reuniting with fellow alumni and College faculty and staff over cocktails and dinner. Music and games will be provided so bring the whole family!

Shuttle from Dinner — 8:30pm

Saturday, August 29

Breakfast & Check-in — 7:00-8:15am

College of Community Health Sciences Begin the day with a hot breakfast buffet. Attendees who were unable to check-in on Friday can pick-up their welcome bag.

Welcome & College Update — 8:15-8:30am

College of Community Health Sciences Dr. Richard Friend, Dean of the College of Community Health Sciences, will provide an update about the vision for the future of the UA Family Medicine Residency and CCHS.

CME Sessions — 8:30-12:45pm

College of Community Health Sciences Join us for CME sessions that focus on changes in medicine and the future of family medicine.

Lunch — 1:00-2:00pm

College of Community Health Sciences Join your classmates and current residents for lunch. College leaders will be around to discuss the growth and changes of the UA Family Medicine Residency.

CCHS Building & Other Facilities Tour — 2:00-3:00pm

College of Community Health Sciences The tour will begin with a walk through the academic and clinical units of the College of Community Health Sciences, the College’s Mobile Outreach Unit and will end with a short bus ride to our Northeast Medical Building.

Shuttle to Award Ceremony — 5:45pm

Departing from Hotel Indigo and Embassy Suites.

Gala & Award Ceremony — 6:00-10:00pm

NorthRiver Yacht Club Join us for an evening of food, cocktails and dancing! We will celebrate the accomplishments of our UA Family Medicine Residency, recognize winners of our Distinguished Alumni and Service Awards, and meet and mingle with classmates, mentors and College faculty.
